What is happening?
We have held the first training day of the year with the Ski Patrol Refresher, which is always the green flag of the season. Here we go. (They really are practicing. The "patient" is the former National Director of the National Ski Patrol. Pretty big deal he showed up. He said we put on the best courses!)
If you are new to Sky Tavern there is a lot to digest and you will be getting tired of hearing from me, but this stuff matters. ( Hint: Look at FAQs on the website) If you are returning, please help the new families. This is fun stuff and I will keep it short.
First off, fair warning. If you want that family picture in the changing aspens, you have this weekend to get it done here. The trees changed in 24 hours and are moving to looking like winter quickly. MOrning is best with no wind lately.
SkyKids, (4 and 5 year olds) is almost sold out. Twenty some spots left is all. We are creating a 6- 8 year olds program that is going to follow SkyKid’s feel with more direct parental involvement. More to come about that later.
Rentals from Sky Tavern will start in November. No date is set since we still have work to do. $75 a set for the season and we have adult gear. Skis, boots, poles, or snowboard and boots.Please buy your own helmet. We still have two huge boxes of them but just saying it would be better if you got your own. Some of these are in need of a new task, such as door stops.
The new Sky Tavern app is ready to download everywhere. It has a bunch of stuff that is on the website linked to it and some extras that are not. Play and punch holes in it please before the season starts so we can get the young man that built it some feedback. He is a really long way away but likes us. It is a start of a way to get you information fast. Lots of information. This has been a long time coming and we got some great help making it work. I will be sending shirts to Pakistan and then will be on a watch list because I sent shirts to Pakistan.
November 6th. Returning Instructors and Certified Instructors. 6 PM at the California Building. The annual " This is what we are going to do this year" get together.
Ski Swap is November 22-23. This is a HUGE fundraiser for us. We are making Friday night the winter event not to miss. Any ideas? We have food, drink, entertainment, Santa and of course ski equipment to buy, all at the old Sports Authority building by Sams Club. It is the Halloween Store right now, but soon it will be the best place to buy all the stuff for winter and help Sky Tavern. Ski Swap is a weeklong adventure for us to set-up, run, tear down and clean up. There will be a huge cry out for help soon but if you help, you get to shop early.
Scholarship packages are up on the website ( About Us>Forms). If you know someone that needs some help doing the program point them to that or to the office. All kids get to ski in Reno. We can help. Payment plans are also available since Christmas is coming. Register online at skytavern.org including uploading pictures, then call the office and Lythia will set up payments for you.
