Time for some snow for Sky Tavern!

Maybe this Week!

Sky Tavern

Hope that your Thanksgiving was amazing with family and friends. For us it was the first time in five years that all the kids and grand kids made it. Toss in good friends and we needed a bigger house! Well worth the effort but all that noise! Trying to write this Friday morning with a two year old on my lap helping is new. Maybe I am getting old!

Sky Tavern stuff happening

2018 is not that far off and there is a bunch to do to get these kids on the snow.

Rentals

Keep saying that this is a sport that takes a bunch of stuff. Without that stuff no one gets to go downhill. Sky Tavern still has kid's rental gear and thanks to a donation from Powder House in South Lake Tahoe, we have more teenager and adult sized skis. Just picked them up Wednesday afternoon.

Dates & Times

Instructor Orientation Night

Tuesday Nov 28th, 6:30

California Building in Idlewild Park

75 Cowan Dr.

Sky Tavern is a learning center. At its core is passing snowsports from one generation to the next. Instructing is FUN but it is serious too. Sky has a reputation of doing it right and that happens because of the dedication of the instructors. Thank you!

This is the first night of "how to be an instructor" classes. We try to do a couple of these in town and more as soon as we can get on snow. This is all about how to pass the fun on the right way. It is not sitting in a classroom with Miss Smith reciting ABCs although we will talk about the basic day at Sky Tavern first. Most of the time will be in groups learning games that make kids wishing the weekend would get here faster because that is time to ski and ride. Fun, laughs and smiles. Those are what power the lifts at Sky Tavern.

Instructing is fun and rewarding. Seeing a kid get it is worth everything. You don't have to be a great skier or rider, that can come later. You just have to be someone that wants to make a smile happen on a kid by showing them the basics of a lifetime sport. If you are a new or returning instructor please make an effort to attend. If you are a Junior Instructor, you too! And if you are undecided about what you are going to help this season at Sky Tavern, please show up. Your time with Sky Tavern will be well spent. Kids are counting on us all.

A fundraiser

You might have seen this on Facebook. Build a fundraiser page and the Gates Family will match those donations you raise. Can we go back to that old sentence and that I do not totally understand Facebook but did it anyway for Sky. $500 showed up just like that! So give it a go please. Membership fees only cover 50% of what Sky Tavern costs to run a year and we have some big expenses coming up soon. Big, like snow making.

The one I did is here.

If you don't want to do that please invite your friends to join the program. Snow is a gift given by family and friends and the best way is with Sky Tavern.

The kid is bored with me and off chasing the dog. Sorry this was late for the week but it is that time of year that there is never enough time and a lot to make happen. Snow is coming and the 70th season of this Nevada Tradition is on its way.

Thanks,

Bill
