Sky Tavern is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation. Each summer it is required to hold an Annual Meeting of the Board of Directors. This is when the Board votes in its members and from those members the officers, (chairman, vice-chair, secretary, and treasurer) are decided for the following year.

The Board is about the big picture.
Planning: What do we do at Sky Tavern? What is our mission? What do we need to do that?
Governance: Do we do good?Are we doing what we said we would do. Are we doing it responsibly? Is Sky Tavern in good standings in the community?
Financial Stability. Do we have the resources to do what we do? Fundraising.
There are many other things they do and just like everyone else at Sky Tavern during the Program they also have tasks like washing dishes, instructing, or running a race team. What they are not about is the day in, day out running of the programs. The Board of Directors is separate from the Sky Tavern Operations Group. OPS runs the programs and are the department heads such as ski school, lifts, and even parking. There are over 30 departments and each has a volunteer boss. As the GM, OPS reports to me.
While all board meetings are public, this is the one we actively give Moms, Dads, and even kids a stage to be heard. Every year previously, we just listed a time and place. This year it is a little more complicated.
